About the Tattoo

As someone who has been drawing plants for a while, I found the most beautiful versions of some widely loved indoor plants can often be found in relatively harsh and uncontrolled environments in the wild. Orchids are a great example.

Our bodies are a profound form of beauty created by nature that may or may not be understood by a human mind. I wanted to skip the mind’s reasoning, unwritten rules that limit the light that we exude by appreciating the natural form that we take. Think of your body as an ancient tree in a forest, here and alive, living to its full potential, taking a form whose beauty renders any man-made rules of what should or should not be powerless. On this power tree trunk and branches, the most stunning wild orchid roots itself and blooming silently but loudly.

Chloe Hua

Born and raised in Northern China, I have developed my love for art since the age of 5 and have trained as an illustrator for more than a couple decades. I moved to Vancouver, Canada in 2012 to pursue my passion for drawing in the form of animation while attending Emily Carr University. During my undergraduate studies, I established a passion for the human body and its significance in expressing one's identity and spirit. After graduation, I decided to pursue this passion via temporary tattoos using henna paste and jagua gel. After pursuing temporary tattooing, I was offered an tattoo apprenticeship to pursue permanent tattooing as an art form. I have been tattooing since September 2019.
